Overview
Experience St Maarten’s unique past as you take a leisure bicycle ride through its historically-rich streets, follow your guides along Pointe Blanche Road to the vibrant town of Philipsburg, St Maarten’s capital, where you will find a colorful and bustling Boardwalk. This charming city has been the epicenter of various wars fought over the control of the salt-producing island. Marvel at the architecture of the Passagrahan Hotel, St. Maarten’s oldest inn as well as the Governor’s former home more than two hundred years ago. Other historical sites along your visit include the island’s largest church, the old courthouse and Fort Amsterdam, a strategic location for Dutch soldiers in the 1500’s.
